What grades does FJBH offer?

FJBH educates Tularosa Basin youth in grades Pre-K through 5th, with the intent to increase grade levels each year.

Is tuition assistance provided?

A limited amount of tuition assistance is available to qualified families. The process for determining tuition assistance is fair and confidential. Read more about the tuition assistance process.

Is the school accredited?

Yes, FJBH is fully accredited through the Western Catholic Educational Association and recognized by the State of New Mexico Public Education Department.

Are the teachers certified?

Yes, our teachers are certified by the State of New Mexico, this includes substitute teachers, educational assistants as well as our pre-school teachers.  In addition, 100% of our teachers have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and 37% of faculty members have advanced degrees.

Does the school follow a yearly calendar similar to public schools in the area?

The calendar is very similar to the Alamogordo Public Schools calendar. School typically begins after the first week of August and ends in the middle of May. Spring break and Christmas vacation usually coincide with public school vacations.

Do students have to be Catholic to attend FJBH?

No. FJBH is a Catholic school; however, we welcome students of all faiths who desire a rigorous education in a faith-based environment.

What options are available for lunch?

Students may either bring lunch from home or order hot lunch from a weekly menu. Hot lunches are ordered from Alamogordo Public Schools and are only available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Does the school have a dress code?

Yes, the students at FJBH adhere to a dress code that requires them to wear attire that is clean and modest.

Girls:    Navy blue or khaki jumper, skirt, walking shorts or skorts, and slacks.  White, navy blue, and light blue blouses or polo shirts, white or navy blue socks.  Jumpers or skirts and blouses are required for Mass days.

Boys:     Navy blue or khaki slacks or shorts.  White, navy blue, or light blue button-down oxford shirts or polo shirts; white or navy blue socks.  Slacks and oxford shirts are required for Mass days.
